Last month, I participated in the Dialer for Free Clinics phone banking challenge, an initiative powered by DoxGives. Equipped with a phone script, a list of clinics, and a shared mission to improve access to care, I made 22 calls to free medical clinics across the country, inviting them to use Doximity Dialer, our telehealth tool, for free.
What is Dialer for Free Clinics?
Dialer for Free Clinics is a program that provides Dialer, our HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform, to free and charitable clinics at no cost. Free clinics use Dialer for voice and video calls with patients, allowing them to provide virtual care, reduce no-shows, and securely communicate with patients from their personal devices while protecting their private information. There are over 1,000 free clinics across the U.S., and over 150 of them have benefited from this program, which is now called Doximity for Free Clinics and includes AI-powered clinical tools. The goal of last month’s initiative was to expand our partnerships so that even more clinics can participate.
Getting Grounded in Our Mission
What began as a simple volunteer effort for me quickly transformed into something deeply meaningful. It only took one conversation—a single call with a free clinic administrator—to reframe my entire perspective.
She was already a user of Doximity Dialer and, without hesitation, shared how instrumental the service has been in supporting her clinic’s ability to stay connected with patients. She spoke with heartfelt gratitude, emphasizing the impact Dialer has made in reducing communication barriers—particularly for patients struggling with transportation or those managing ongoing care. She reflected on the days she had to rely on *69 to reach patients, and how Dialer has changed that.
Her words were simple, but powerful:
“Please share with everyone—thank you, thank you, thank you.”
That phone call grounded me in the Doximity mission. It reminded me that behind every product, call, or feature we offer, there are real people—patients, clinicians, administrators—whose lives are being positively impacted. We aren’t just building tools; we’re bridging gaps in care for communities that need it most.
For anyone considering getting involved in a DoxGives initiative like this: do it. This wasn’t time-consuming or complicated. What it was, however, was deeply rewarding. I finished my calls with a renewed sense of pride in representing a company that thoughtfully considers how our services can support physicians and other healthcare providers working in resource-limited settings. This experience has stayed with me—and reminded me that every role at Doximity contributes to meaningful change.
Sometimes, one call is all it takes to make an impact.
